Hitnews is a provider based in the Netherlands and is using the network and usenet storage services of xentech. This provider is not well known yet, and their crappy homepage certainly doesn’t make it look more professional either. But don’t let that misguide you, their service is actually very good. Their prices are below most other big providers (and it even gets cheaper if you pay for more than a month in advance), but their service clearly stands above the highwinds companies for European customers which heavily profit from their location.
They also offer free SSL service which work just as well as the regular system, whereas other providers with free SSL sometimes struggle with the additional load. Just as every other non-giganews provider, they do have some problems occasionally, but they immediately send out e-mails about all problems and are very quick at fixing them.

I’m using this provider since several months and the service is really awesome for that price. Thank’s to xen-tech’s open peering my connection is awesome, and even their SSL servers do a great job at constantly maxing out my connection
Retention is different across groups, but overall never much below the advertised 100 days. Some groups actually have much more retention, like up to 160 days!
The best choice for european SSL users on a tight budget IMO.
